Why did you choose the Credit Union of Colorado and what keeps you here?
I always wanted to work here. When I worked at another financial institution, I would always drive by and say to myself “I’m going to work there someday.” I don’t know why, but I just felt drawn to it. When I finally got hired after trying 2 times, I knew this was the place I was meant to be. I absolutely love the culture. I can be myself here! I am empowered, encouraged and uplifted by my peers. I have found lifetime friends here and have learned so much about myself. We can interact with Senior Management and we are never taught to feel lesser because of our pay grade. The sky is the limit here, and I am thankful for that every day.
What is your favorite “Here to Help” story?
We have an older lady that comes in very often. She is a spunky little gal with a big heart. She doesn’t have much income and is always telling me how she needed to go to the ARC and get a jacket. So one day I thought it would be nice to have whoever wanted to, pitch in to get her some garments for winter. So we all pitched in and were able to get her a hat, a warm coat, gloves, a scarf, some fuzzy socks and a large soft blanket. She was so happy that she cried, and the next week brought us 3 dozen home-made tortillas.
What is one of the coolest things that you have gotten to do at the Credit Union of Colorado?
Joining the Emerging Leaders Program has been the coolest thing for me. I have gained self-confidence and found some amazing friends that I feel I will keep for a lifetime. We have a team project to clean a trail head in Red Rocks and I am so excited for that!
