Why did you choose the Credit Union of Colorado and what keeps you here?
I was actually brought on board by the Pueblo Branch Manager, to assist with the “new product/service” the Credit Union was going to start offering in 1984, namely the share draft account. I was working for the Credit Union’s bank and was familiar with the organization. I was interviewed and hired within a few days! What has kept me here for 32 years? I would have to say, the values, support and opportunities afforded to me by the Credit Union. In addition to this, the relationships I have forged with members and fellow staff members over the years.
What is your favorite “Here to Help” story?
One of the very first loans I approved was for a member who needed an automobile to get to work. He had just gotten hired with the local fire department. He stated he was not looking for anything extravagant and could we help? His credit score was not the greatest and he had just gotten divorced, and was needing to start over. I approved an automobile loan for around $8,000 for him and needless to say, that was a beginning of a long term Credit Union relationship. Over the years we approved a house loan as well as other loans for him. About a year before he passed away, he came in and told me that he was so thankful that we gave him a chance when he first came to Pueblo and he would not have been able to get back on track if we had not helped. This is what we are all about!
Name something on your “bucket list”.
Besides becoming a grandmother, I want to sit on a beach on the East Coast and watch the sun set.
