How do I add a new external account?

Using our mobile app

1. Select Pay/Transfer
2. Select Account Management
3. Select + Add Person or Business
4. Enter the name of the person or business, then select Next
5. Select + Add Account
6. For an external account, select External Account for the Payment Type
    a. If you are adding an account that belongs to you at another financial institution and you know your login credentials, select Yes, I know my credentials, then select Proceed.
        i. Review the instructions, then select Get Started.
        ii. Choose your institution’s icon or use the search option. The steps to log in and select your external account may include two-factor authentication and will vary based on the other financial institution.
        iii. After completing verification, select Proceed.
        iv. You will see a confirmation, and you can start using your account immediately.

    b. If you are adding an account that belongs to you that you do not know the credentials for or an account that belongs to another person or business, select No, I do not know my credentials, or I am adding another person or business, then select Proceed.
        i. Enter the name of the accountholder, account number, account type, and routing number. There is also a search option available. You also have the option to add a nickname for the account.
        ii. If you would like to allow transfers from this account, which will require the verification of test deposits, choose this option. This option should not be used when you are not the account owner, or you are only adding the account so that funds can be sent to it.
        iii. Select Save account
        iv. If you choose to allow transfers from this account, the account will show as pending verification of two trial deposits. This may take 1-2 business days. You will need to log back in after the deposits have been made to the account at the other financial institution to verify the deposits.

7. If you choose to allow transfers from an external account when setting it up in digital banking, you will need to verify the deposit amounts. It may take 1-2 business days for the deposits to be made into the external account. Once deposits have been received, you can proceed.
    a. Select the Pay/Transfer tab
    b. Select Account Management 
    c. Select the account that you would like to verify
    d. On the Account Details, you will see a notice that says “(Account Nickname) has not been verified as an account yet.” Click the Verify link to verify the deposits.
    e. On the Verify Account screen, enter the amounts of the two micro deposits that were made to the external account. Then, select Verify.
 

Using a web browser

1. Select Pay/Transfer
2. Select + Add a new account
3. Enter the name of the person or business, then select + Add Account
4. For an external account, select External Account for the Payment Type
    a. If you are adding an account that belongs to you at another financial institution and you know your login credentials, select Yes.
        i. Review the instructions, then select Get Started.
        ii. Choose your institution’s icon or use the search option.
        iii. After completing verification, select Proceed.
        iv. You will see a confirmation, and you can start using your account immediately.

    b. If you are adding an account that belongs to you that you do not know the credentials for or an account that belongs to another person or business, select No.
        i. Enter the name, account number, account type, and routing number.
        ii. If you would like to allow transfers from this account, choose this option.
        iii. Select Save account
        iv. Wait 1-2 business days for trial deposits to verify.

5. Select the Pay/Transfer tab
    i. Select Account Management
    ii. Select the account that you would like to verify
    iii. Click the Verify link and enter the micro deposit amounts.
